What the words on openmog mean
Every term a sealed post uses (sealed, tease, payload, back, bond, reveal, goal, deadline, bonus pool) defined in one place.

What is a sealed post?
An ordinary post with part of it hidden. The creator marks what stays behind the seal, an image, a clip, an audio track or the text that gives the payoff away, and everything they did not mark stays public as the tease. The post goes into the feed like any other, wearing a panel that shows its terms and how it is going, and the payload is not sent to anyone who has not unlocked it. That is the whole idea behind how sealed posts work: you get paid before you post, and the seal is real rather than decorative.
What are the two modes?
A crowdfund opens for everyone or not at all. The creator sets a goal of $20 to $1,000 and a deadline of one hour to five days, backers pledge toward the goal, and if they meet it by the deadline the post opens in public and the backers are charged. If they do not, every hold is released and the post stays sealed. One sealed post, two endings runs a real one through both outcomes with the actual dollars.
Pay to reveal never opens in public. Each buyer pays a fixed price, $5 to $1,000, and unlocks their own copy, the charge settles immediately, and the post keeps selling for as long as people keep finding it. Pay to reveal covers when that mode earns better than a crowdfund.
Who are the three seats?
The creator seals the post and sets its terms: the goal or the price, the deadline, and on a crowdfund the bonus percentage, which is off by default. The backer pledges toward the goal and pays only if the post opens. The bonder stakes into the bonus pool and pays only if the post stays sealed, which is what makes the backer bonus real. Why bond a post you may never see is the bonder’s seat in full, and who pays when a post stays sealed is the mechanism underneath all three. A pay-to-reveal post has only two seats, the creator and the buyer, because there is no goal to back and nothing to bond.
When does money move?
Backing and bonding place holds that are captured only from the side the outcome says should pay, a reveal is charged on the spot, and openmog’s fee, 10% of each payment with a 75 cent minimum, sits inside the price the payer sees rather than being deducted from the creator; how sealed posts work walks the timing and the limits in full.
What does every term mean?
- sealed post
- A post whose chosen parts are hidden behind money. The public part is the tease, the hidden part is the payload, and a live panel on the post shows its terms and how it is going. It opens in one of two modes: crowdfund or pay to reveal.
- tease
- The public part of a sealed post: the text and media the creator left visible so people know what is behind the seal. The tease is what the feed, search and link previews show, and it stays public whatever happens to the payload.
- payload
- The hidden part of a sealed post: the image, clip, audio or text the creator marked before posting. It is never sent to a browser that has not unlocked it, and sealed media lives in storage that public URLs do not reach.
- crowdfund
- The sealed-post mode where backers fund a goal together. If the goal is met by the deadline the post opens for everyone and the backers are charged; if it is not, every hold is released and the post stays sealed.
- pay to reveal
- The sealed-post mode where each buyer pays a fixed price, $5 to $1,000, to see the payload for themselves. Nothing goes public: every buyer unlocks their own copy, the charge settles immediately, and the post keeps selling for as long as people find it.
- reveal
- The moment a payload becomes visible. In pay to reveal it is one buyer unlocking one post; in a crowdfund it is the whole post opening for everyone once the goal is met. Until then the payload stays under the tease.
- goal
- The amount, $20 to $1,000, a crowdfund has to raise from backers for the post to open. The creator sets it before sealing, receives it in full minus only the bonus pool that filled if the post opens, and cannot change it once the post is live.
- deadline
- The end of a crowdfund’s window, one hour to five days out, set by the creator when the post is sealed. At the deadline the campaign resolves: goal met, the post opens and the backers are charged; goal missed, the holds are released and the bond pool pays the bonus.
- back
- To pledge money toward a crowdfund’s goal. Backing places a hold on your card, not a charge. If the post opens you are charged the all-in price of your stake, the number shown on the confirm button, with openmog’s fee already inside it; if it stays sealed the hold is released and you are charged nothing, plus a bonus if the post was bonded. The bonus is paid out of the bond pool, so a post nobody bonded pays no bonus.
- backer
- Someone who backs a crowdfund. Backers only pay if the post opens, they pay the all-in price shown when they stake, and a backer of a post that stays sealed keeps their money and collects whatever bonus the bond pool covers.
- bond
- To stake money on a crowdfund reaching its goal, into a pool capped at the post’s bonus percentage times its goal. If the post opens, the bonder is credited exactly what they staked; if it stays sealed, the pool pays the backers their bonuses.
- bonder
- Someone who bonds a crowdfund. A bonder’s card is held, not charged, while the campaign runs. If the post opens the hold is released and the bonder is credited what they staked; if it stays sealed the bonder is charged and that money pays the backers their bonus.
- bonus pool
- The total of every bond on a crowdfund, capped at the bonus percentage times the goal. The bonus is off by default and a creator turns it on when sealing. The pool exists to pay backers a bonus if the post stays sealed, and how much of the advertised bonus each backer gets depends on how full the pool is when the deadline passes.
- hold
- A card authorization taken when you back or bond a post. A hold is not a charge: the money stays with your bank, nothing settles, and it is either captured or released when the campaign resolves. A released hold is never charged anything.
- credit
- What lands in your openmog balance when money moves your way: a creator’s sale, a bonder’s yield, a backer’s bonus. Credits arrive as pending, become withdrawable seven days later, and withdrawals start at $50.
