A Threads alternative where a post can be sold

What does Threads do with a post?

Ranks it. The default feed is For you, a model that scores each post on predicted engagement and shows it to the slice of the graph most likely to react; Meta has said replies weigh more than likes in that ranking, which is why so much of Threads reads as questions asked to farm answers. The post exists to be seen in the hours it is posted, and nothing on the platform pays for it. As of August 2026 Threads has no creator payout: the invite-only bonus program stopped paying around April 2025 and Meta confirmed that July that it had ended, and the ads that reached every user in January 2026 carry no revenue share. A creator earns on Threads the way they earned on Instagram a decade ago: brand deals, affiliate links, and sending the audience somewhere that charges.

What does a sealed post do instead?

Sells the post. Two modes open a sealed post. Crowdfund sets a goal of $20 to $1,000 and a deadline of one hour to five days; reach the goal and the payload opens for everyone. Pay to reveal sets one price, $5 to $1,000, paid per person, and the post never goes public. Backing places a hold, not a charge. A crowdfund that misses its goal releases every hold in full, and if the creator turned the bonus on and bonders filled the pool, the backers are credited a bonus out of it; who pays when a post stays sealed walks that mechanism. How do the fees compare?

Threads has no rate to compare: it pays creators nothing, as of August 2026. openmog’s fee is 10% of each payment with a 75 cent minimum, card processing included, and it sits inside the price the payer sees. Set $30 and the buyer pays $33.34; you receive $30.00. The price you set is the price you receive. No monthly plan, no invite code, no follower or impression gate, and no second line for card costs. Whose account is it?

Instagram’s. A Threads profile is an Instagram account wearing a text feed: signing up means signing in with Instagram, and the two identities stay linked. An openmog account stands alone: a handle, a feed, person-to-person chat, and a Stripe payout account you connect the first time you withdraw. It also has a door Threads structurally cannot offer: posting anonymously. An anonymous post on openmog is not a name the server hides on request, it is a row that carries no author at all, with the link back to you kept in a private table nothing public can join.

Where does Threads still win?

Reach, and the audience it arrived with. Threads launched into the Instagram graph, crossed a hundred million users faster than any social app before it, and its ranked feed puts a good post in front of strangers at a scale openmog does not try to match.
